File Upload Integration

The file upload feature in DataQI allows users to manually add documents for use by AI assistants. This provides a quick way to inject new or temporary content without needing to connect an external system.

Overview

- Supported Content Types: `.txt`, `.md`, `.doc`, `.docx`, `.pdf`

- Refresh Interval: Not applicable — content is processed at the time of upload

- Limitations: Excel files are not supported. Tables embedded in PDF or Word documents are not extracted.

Who Can Upload

Users with the appropriate permissions, as defined in their DataQI account, are able to upload files. Upload capability is not available to all users by default and must be explicitly enabled.

Upload Process

1. Navigate to the ‘Files’ or ‘Upload’ area in the DataQI interface.

2. Select the document(s) you wish to upload.

3. Confirm the metadata or assistant access settings if prompted.

4. Submit the upload to make the content available for indexing and retrieval.

File Assignment

After uploading files, use the streamlined assignment workflow to connect them to assistants:

1. Select one or more files from the Data Page 2. Click “Add” to stage them in the assignment sidebar 3. Review and confirm which files to assign to which assistants 4. The sidebar prevents duplicate assignments and provides clear confirmation

This workflow gives you better control over file assignments and helps prevent common assignment errors.

Security and Access

- Uploaded files are scoped to the assistants specified at the time of upload.

- Files are only accessible within the permissions defined by the uploader’s role.

- All uploaded content remains private to your organisation and is never shared externally.

This integration is ideal for teams who need to work with bespoke or rapidly changing documents not already present in connected drives.
