Chat Assistant
The Chat Assistant is a core feature of DataQI, designed to provide natural language interaction with your internal content. Each assistant is fully customisable and scoped to a defined set of documents and data sources, ensuring secure, relevant responses for every team.
What It Does
- Allows users to ask questions in natural language
- Returns answers based strictly on the content provided to that assistant
- Enables segmented support for different departments (e.g., HR, Legal, Finance, Technical)
Data Scope
- Each assistant only has access to the documents and content explicitly connected to it
- Users can segment assistants by department or use case by assigning different content collections
Assistant Behaviour
- Admins can customise how each assistant communicates using the unified Configuration page
- Configure assistant name, description, instructions, tone of voice, and AI model in a single, streamlined interface
- For example, a non-technical assistant can be configured to give clear, conversational responses, while a technical team assistant can be tuned for brevity and precision
Benefits
- Ensures teams only receive contextually relevant information
- Prevents information leakage across departments
- Promotes greater adoption by allowing tone and behaviour to be tailored to team needs
This feature allows organisations to build trust in AI outputs while maintaining data governance and communication standards.
Use Cases
Here are real-world examples of how organizations use Chat Assistants:

Problem: Agents spend too long manually searching for return policies buried in PDFs and training decks.
Solution: Allows staff to ask natural language questions and receive instant answers. When the assistant quotes directly from policy documents, source citations are automatically provided.
Product Information Assistant
Problem: Sales and support teams struggle to access accurate, up-to-date technical product specs quickly.
Solution: Provides a conversational interface to query product manuals and brochures, returning the latest specifications instantly.
Medicare Policy Assistant
Problem: Internal teams waste time checking detailed healthcare regulations to answer common patient or provider questions.
Solution: Offers instant answers sourced from updated Medicare compliance documentation.
Project Knowledge Assistant
Problem: Project managers and new starters have difficulty accessing historic decisions, documents, or meeting minutes.
Solution: Enables quick Q&A over connected project files, surfacing summaries of key decisions and related references.
HR Policy Assistant
Problem: Employees frequently ask HR the same basic policy questions, pulling the team away from strategic work.
Solution: Delivers quick, consistent answers to policy and benefits questions by referencing HR manuals and onboarding packs.
Procurement Assistant
Problem: Teams struggle to find current contract terms or approved supplier details without digging through legacy folders.
Solution: Searches through contracts and procurement documents to return relevant terms, vendor contacts, or renewal timelines.
